UHWI Addresses Premature Sharing of Patient’s Autopsy Findings

The University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) notes information in the media regarding the coroner’s examination performed by the forensic pathologist on Ms Jodian Fearon, on April 29, 2020.

The UHWI strongly disputes the misinformation circulated and premature sharing of autopsy findings prior to the determination of the cause of death, as the cause of death is usually pending further ancillary testing.

The Hospital urges all to await a formal report from the qualified forensic pathologist.

We urge sensitivity and the highest level of professionalism in this matter.

All medical personnel are urged to continue to refer patients to the University Hospital using standard medical protocols and to provide all relevant medical information to the hospital.
