The Kiwanis Club of New Kingston recently provided the Oncology Paediatric Centre of the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) with Ambulatory Infusion Pumps, Bed Screens, & Accessories.   

The Oncology Paediatric Centre provides specialised care to children diagnosed with cancer.  The donation of the Ambulatory infusion pumps will help to safely deliver medication to the children in the paediatric centre and will be used to deliver medication while allowing the patient to be mobile.

The machines capable of delivering fluids in large or small amounts, and can be used to deliver nutrients or medications such as insulin or other hormones, antibiotics, chemotherapy drugs, and pain relievers.

This handing over of the equipment and accessories was the culmination of the club’s major project for the period September 2015 to October 2016.
