Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Neurodiagnostic Technician (HTAC/HT 4) at the University Hospital of the West Indies.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Under the general direction of the Head of Cardiology, the Neurodiagnostic Technician (HTAC/HT 4) is responsible for:
- Preparing patient and performs Electroencephalograms (EMG), Ambulatory EEG’s, BAER’s, VEP and other tests within your scope of practice;
- Editing and preparing test for reading by a Physician;
- Reporting findings or concerns to reading physician for prompt interpretation;
- Demonstrating customer service in all interaction, that is compassionate, courteous, friendly, non-judgmental and demonstrate a respect for privacy.
- Cleaning and maintaining equipment (EEG machine and accessories);
- Using the Hospital Information Management System (HiMs);
- Using specific protocol for patient wires including taking them off and proper cleaning and storage;
- Scheduling, filing, computer and telephone skills;
- Performing other duties as directed by the Neurology/Psychiatry or Chief of EMG/EEG;
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma and successful completion of education/training to obtain necessary technologist certification(s);
- Maintenance of current Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for HealthCare Workers or Basic Cardiac Life Maintenance of current Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for HealthCare Workers or Basic Cardiac Life;
- Educated on and compliant with UHWI/UWI regulations; maintains strict confidentiality of client information.
